At The Book Bar, we believe in transparency and fairness. This policy aligns with the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and supports our commitment to sustainability and ethical resale.

1. Second-Hand Books

  • No Refunds or Exchanges: All second-hand book sales are final.

  • Buy-Back Option: We offer to buy back second-hand books in good condition for R25 per book.

2. New Books

  • Condition Upon Return: Books must be returned in original, unread, and undamaged condition.

  • Refunds: A full refund will be issued for new books returned within 7 days of purchase in acceptable condition.

  • Buy-Back Option: For new books purchased through The Book Bar, we offer a R75 buy-back provided:

    • You can supply proof of purchase

    • The book is returned in good resale condition (subject to inspection)

    • Should the book not be in good resale condition, regular second-hand resale price will be applicable

3. Defective or Incorrect Items

  • Reporting Period: Must be reported within 7 days of receipt.

  • Resolution: We will offer a replacement, repair, or full refund once the issue is verified.

4. How to Return

  • Email us at info@thebookbar.co.za with your order number and reason for return.

  • Return Shipping: Customers are responsible for return shipping unless the item is defective or incorrect.
